Rose & Sauna Ceremonies

Back in June, Rose attended a weekend sauna ceremony training in preparation for some new upcoming events. Here's how she found it...

“Last month, I was lucky enough to train with Mielikin metsän Sauna-Akka to learn about Finnish Sauna ceremony. We were based in the beautiful sauna space which was idyllic, we were tucked away and surrounded by nature. I was blown away by the sensory experience – the hour long sessions felt like a whole day. Guided on a journey of heating, cooling, the drifting aromas, the touch of heat and birch whisks, and the taste of herbal teas.

We learned about Finnish mythology and the healing system that weaves into these sauna rituals. The songs that have been passed down through generations and the sauna culture of Finland. We were sent off, encouraged by Laura, to develop our own sauna ceremonies based on what we learned from her and support the evolution of sauna culture here in the UK, which I am excited to be doing at Ty Sawna”
